About Us

Water Insecurity Causes

Water insecurity is the lack of access to safe and adequate water for a healthy and productive life. It’s a global issue that’s caused by a number of factors.

Poor Sanitation and Hygiene

Nearly 3.5 billion people globally, lack safely managed sanitation services, leading to preventable diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid. These conditions impact children the most, causing over 297,000 child deaths annually.

Economic Hardship & Poverty

Water scarcity threatens to reduce GDP by up to 6% in some regions by 2050. Agriculture and small-scale industries are hardest hit, entrenching cycles of poverty.

Education Disruptions

Millions of children - especially girls - miss school due to the burden of water collection or inadequate hygiene facilities. Girls are 2.5 times more likely to drop out of school in water-scarce areas.

Vulnerability During Crisis

In conflict zones and disaster-struck regions, damaged infrastructure leaves communities without reliable water access. This increases vulnerability to disease and delays recovery.
